Chimney Cap Replacement in Dallas–Fort Worth

Many DFW homes have framed chimneys topped with a metal chase cover, and when that cover rusts or gets dented by hail, water runs straight down into your chimney and walls. CGJ Roofing & Construction replaces chimney caps and chase covers and seals the flashing around your chimney so it stays dry.

Know the Difference

Chimney Cap vs. Chase Cover

Chimney cap: the hooded top with mesh sides that sits over the flue opening. It keeps out rain, animals and debris and helps stop sparks.

Chase cover (chase top): the flat or sloped metal panel that covers the entire top of a framed, siding-covered chimney, with a hole for the flue. When people say "chimney cap" on a framed chimney, they usually mean this.

We replace both, often together.

FAQ

Chimney Cap FAQ

Why is my chimney leaking when it isn't raining hard?

Rusted or dished chase covers hold water that slowly seeps through rust holes and seams. Failed flashing at the roofline can also let water in. A free inspection will show where it's coming from.

How long does a chimney cap replacement take?

Most are measured on one visit and installed once the cap or cover is ready. We'll give you a timeline with your quote.

Will insurance cover a hail-damaged chimney cap?

Hail damage to chimney caps and chase covers is often included in a storm claim with the roof, depending on your policy. We'll document the damage with photos.

Can a rusted chase cover be repaired instead of replaced?

Small issues can sometimes be sealed, but a rusted-through or sunken cover usually needs replacing, because it will keep holding water and rusting.

Do I need a chimney cap if I never use my fireplace?

Yes. The cap and chase cover keep rain, animals and debris out of the chimney whether or not you use it.
